Every project has a Chicago address number.
Chicago counts from State and Madison. Eight hundred numbers make a mile, so 2100 W / 900 N tells you where a building sits as well as a map does. We plot every project this way; most of them sit within four miles of the studio.

Case note / 02
Kedzie Stable Lofts
A 1902 livery stable with three arched doors on the street and a hayloft above. The owner wanted to know if it could hold three homes without losing what made it worth saving.
The feasibility study said yes, if every kitchen, bath and stair went into one service strip along the party wall. That left the brick piers, the arches and the long open rooms alone, and kept the new plumbing in one place for the contractor.
